So…

This is it. I looked long and hard, checked blogging services, tried to think of a name, and all for this. “Vanity, vanity,” comes to mind. But we shall see.

I think, for this initial period, I’ll be editing and posting some of the things I’ve written in the past; partly because I’ve been re-reading and re-thinking them lately so this is a good opportunity, and partly because I’m pretty busy and don’t have the time or focus to write something entirely new. Not yet, at least.

So what’s up with this WordPress thing? It seems mostly a competitor to Blogger. Why did I choose this one? I suppose I’m just a sucker for anything open source. Firefox, Thunderbird, Gaim, now WordPress. Next is Linux, maybe? Heh…when I have a lot more time.

I suppose my first move shall be to find other blogs to read. In the past when I’ve read through Blogger and WordPress blogs, I’ve been impressed by their maturity compared to LiveJournal land (where I had a blog for a couple of years) or Xanga (where the majority of my friends have ghost-town blogs). So, now to track them down again!

Ridiculously obvious but pertinent thought for the evening:

Times of testing are intended to draw us closer to God. The fact that He does so seems almost unethical by human ways of thinking. Bringing pain and general discomfort to His loved ones in order to make them more dependent on Him? Sounds like a psycho. Yet this is our God.

He is a very dark God, a very mysterious and dangerous God; He works on the edge of disaster, using righteousness and evil to craft a darkly beautiful world. This is the world we live in, this is the God we serve.
